Prashant Roy

I started as a transactional lawyer. I ended up leading complex commercial deals at AWS across EMEA and APJ — the kind that require a room full of lawyers, engineers, and finance people to close. The pivot wasn't accidental. It was architected.

I also run marathons, curate a high-trust alumni network, and mentor lawyers who want out of the specialist trap through the Strategic Pivot Lab.

01 The Arc
2004–08
NALSAR University of Law
LLB
One of India's top national law universities. Formed the intellectual foundation and a network I've been curating ever since.
2009–12
S&R Associates
Capital Markets Lawyer
One of India's leading capital markets practices. Transactional work at scale. Learned what deals actually look like from the inside.
2012–13
University of Chicago Law School
LLM
International and comparative law. Built the analytical rigour that translates well beyond courtrooms and contracts.
2013–17
Wipro
In-House Commercial Lead
Moved from law firm to global tech company. Owned commercial contracts end-to-end. Started to speak P&L, not just legal risk.
~2016
MB Executive MBA
Concurrent with in-house role
The credential wasn't the point. Understanding how business leaders think was.
2017–
Amazon Web Services
Strategic Customer Engagements
Leading complex, high-value commercial transactions across EMEA and APJ. The deals are large, the stakeholders are senior, and the commercial problems are genuinely hard. This is where the arc was always pointing.
02 Strategic Pivot Lab
Founded by Prashant Roy

For lawyers who've hit the ceiling
of what their track offers.

The Specialist Trap is real. You're technically excellent, intellectually credible, and chronically underestimated by people who run P&Ls. The Pivot Lab is a structured 1:1 mentoring programme for lawyers and specialists who want to cross over into Deal Strategy, Chief of Staff, VC, or international commercial roles — and need someone who has actually done it to help them think it through.
